Day-by-Day Itinerary
Fes - Ifrane - Ifrane (Cedar Forest) - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Dunes
Pickup starts early at 07:30 AM from your Fes hotel or Riad. We begin our drive south, first ascending the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first brief stop is in Ifrane, often described as Morocco's Switzerland due to its clean alpine architecture and ski resort vibe. Next, we stop in the ancient Cedar Forest of Ifrane, where you can watch and feed the friendly wild Barbary macaque monkeys. We drive through Midelt (lunch stop) and marvel at the incredible Ziz Valley, which houses one of the largest palm tree groves in the world. Late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga. Mount camels and trek over golden Erg Chebbi dunes during a glorious sunset. Dinner, campfire drumming, and sleep in private tents at Merzouga Glamping.
Merzouga Dunes - Rissani - Erfoud - Midelt - Ifrane - Fes
Wake early to witness a majestic desert sunrise over golden dunes. Ride camels back to Merzouga base for breakfast and hot showers. We board our comfortable 7-seater group vehicle and begin our drive back to Fes. We travel through the ancient town of Rissani and Erfoud. We break for lunch in Midelt. We ascend the Middle Atlas Mountains, drive past Ifrane cedar forest, and arrive back in Fes by approximately 06:30 PM. Drop-off is arranged at the nearest vehicle access point to your Medina Riad.
